What these camera industry statistics show

The camera industry has clearly stabilized and moved back into growth after a softer 2023. Shipment totals rose in both 2024 and 2025, and the 2025 figure was the highest of the last five years shown here.

The biggest structural shift inside the market is the continued dominance of mirrorless cameras. In shipment terms, mirrorless models now make up the overwhelming majority of interchangeable-lens cameras, while DSLR volumes continue to decline sharply.

Regional demand is also broader than many people assume. In 2024, the Americas remained the largest destination by unit volume, Europe stayed close behind, and China posted the fastest growth rate. At the same time, broader market research points to demand from creators, filmmakers, hobbyists, and professional photographers as a major support for future camera market growth.

CIPA shipment data cover member companies and include their overseas production, so they work best as a strong benchmark for the mainstream digital camera market rather than a full count of every camera sold globally.
