[Easy Fix] Vivint Doorbell Camera Keeps Going Offline

Have trouble trying to fix your Vivint doorbell camera – offline? No worries, we’ve all been there!

It’s super frustrating when your new doorbell camera decides to go offline.

You just want it to work perfectly, right?

Sometimes, tech issues pop up and mess with things.

But don’t worry!

I’ve got some easy fixes to help you get your Vivint doorbell back online.

Fix 1: Restart the device

Sometimes, the fix can be as easy as restarting your doorbell camera.

Most of the time, restarting your Vivint doorbell camera can get it back online.

To restart your device, carefully unplug the camera from the power source.

Wait for a few seconds, then plug it back in and see if it reconnects.

This should fix the offline problem with your Vivint doorbell camera.

If it doesn’t, you can try other fixes.

Fix 2: Restart or Reset your router

The offline problem doesn’t always come from the doorbell camera itself.

Sometimes, network issues with your router can cause your doorbell camera to go offline.

When that happens, you’ll need to restart or reset your router.

To do this, unplug or power off the router connected to the camera.

Wait a few seconds, and if there’s a reset button on your router, press it.

The indicator lights on your router should start flashing green.

Now check the display to see if the “Camera offline” message has disappeared. The Live footage should be on the display. If it isn’t working, try reconnecting the Wi-Fi network.

Reconnect the Wi-Fi network of your Vivint Doorbell camera:

It’s possible that your doorbell camera has lost the Wi-Fi connection.

Go to Menu settings on your app

Next, click General and enter your Pin

Select Connectivity option > Wi-Fi > Select Networks and tap on your Wi-Fi

This should reconnect the Vivint doorbell camera to Wi-Fi.

Fix 3: Change the network

You might have other devices running on the same network, which could be messing with your Vivint doorbell camera.

To see if that’s the issue, try disconnecting other devices and just using the network for the doorbell camera.

If the live feed still shows “camera offline,” it’s time to try the next fix.

Fix 4: Update firmware on your smart hub and app

The panel that comes with Vivint must be up-to-date to run smoothly.

When it isn’t updated, it can lead to app issues including showing an “offline camera” message.

On your smart hub, go the Menu > General > Enter your pin.

Select the “Software update” and confirm by clicking “Yes.”

Within some minutes, it will be updated.

To update firmware on your app:

If you’re using your smartphone, launch the app to update the firmware.

Go to Menu > Device Settings > Select your panel from the options > hit update.

It will take some minutes for the update to complete after you confirm it. So be patient!

These easy steps can help you keep your panel and app up-to-date.

Fix 5: Reboot the Doorbell Camera and Panel

Another fix that’ll most probably work for Vivint doorbell cameras is rebooting.

You can reboot both the panel device and the doorbell camera.

To reboot the Vivint doorbell camera, go to the location where you’ve installed your doorbell camera that’s offline.

On the doorbell camera, you’ll see a big round button. Push and hold it for a few seconds.

Shortly after, you’ll hear the message, “Release now to reboot.”

At the same time, you can also reboot the panel.

Just go to your panel wherever you’ve set it up. On the display, you’ll see the “…” tap it to launch the menu settings!

Then, go to General > Scroll down to find the “Reboot” option. Tap it to confirm the reboot!

It’ll take a few minutes for the reboot to complete. So be patient!

Once the reboot is done, try to check the app and panel to see if the live footage is online.

This should fix the “Camera offline” problem in your Vivint doorbell camera.

However, if the problem still doesn’t go away, try the next fix.

Fix 6: Contact Vivint Support

Tried pretty much every fix to troubleshoot the camera, but to no avail.

You should now consider reaching out to Vivint support. They’ll be able to troubleshoot the device.

Usually, they’ll send over the tech to get the device back up and running.

In some cases, however, you might have to replace the device.

Conclusion

Troubleshooting the Vivint doorbell camera isn’t too hard. Sure, it can be frustrating. But with a few simple fixes, you can get it back online.

Just know that the offline issue is probably a common one with various security cameras. It’s usually because of network issues like the router or Wi-Fi.

However, sometimes, the doorbell itself can be finicky.

If that’s the case, you might need to contact Vivint support to get it back up and running as usual!
