Your Insta360 Link is all set for action, but it’s nowhere to be found when you plug it in!
Just a blue LED light, but other than that…nothing.
If you’re here, you know the feeling.
You’re ready to use video conferencing software like zoom, for example. But your camera decides to play hard to get.
Don’t worry, though!
We’ve rounded up the quickest fixes to help your Insta360 Link get detected again.
So you can get back to capturing moments without the hassle.
First check requirements and compatibility
I know you bought this nice little camera after checking all the specs and requirements.
No shame in that!
But it’s still worth checking again to ensure you didn’t miss anything.
And sure, the Insta360 Link is supposed to be compatible with just about any decent computer. But tech can be picky.
That’s why you should ensure your computer meets the minimum specifications for the Insta360 Link. This includes checking that your OS version and processor are compatible!
Next, if you’re using Zoom, Teams, or other video-conferencing software, go into each app’s settings. And select the Insta360 Link as the camera source.
In some apps, you may need to enable camera permissions or grant access manually.
Enable Camera Permissions on Your Device
Like I said earlier, your device may block access to the camera.
It’s same like any other device that you plug in. It requires to be recognized by system. When it doesn’t, it usually stops showing up on your apps.
Here’s how to check permissions:
On Windows:
Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
Ensure that apps are allowed to access your camera. And specifically that the Insta360 app has permission.
On Mac:
Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy.
Click on Camera in the sidebar and ensure that the Insta360 app has been granted access.
Try a Different USB Cable, Port, or Even a Different PC
At times, it’s as simple as switching things up!
All those little connections can start acting up without any warning, even if they look totally fine.
I’m talking about the USB cable that came with your Insta360 box—it might not be as reliable as it seems.
And don’t forget your computer’s ports; they might not be working right, or could even just be a bit dusty!
So I would suggest that you give another USB cable a go if you’ve got one lying around. Besides this, try a different port too.
And stop using hub for now to see if that fixes this problem.
If you’re still having trouble, try connecting your Insta360 Link to a different computer just to be sure!
This quick swap could be the fix you need to get your camera detected!
Update Driver Settings (Windows)
Missing or outdated driver can cause a USB interface issue.
It can prevent your Insta360 Link from being detected by your computer or any software you’re trying to use it with.
The camera might still be connected physically, but the system or software won’t recognize it.
It means that it won’t show up as an available device in apps like Zoom, OBS, or the Insta360 software.
Updating the driver can fix this by ensuring that the computer and software can properly communicate with the camera again.
To fix it, you’ll need to update the driver.
Simply head over to Insta360’s website, find your product, and download the latest driver from there.
Update the firmware
Updating the firmware can often fix issues, even if the Insta360 Link isn’t being detected.
It could be a bug or glitch—you never know!
Here’s how you can update your Insta360 Link firmware:
Just follow these simple steps!
Step 1: Connect Your Insta360 Link
Plug your Insta360 Link into your computer using the included USB cable.
Step 2: Enter Update Mode
Tap the touch key on your Insta360 Link three times. You should see the white light blinking.
Then, press and hold the touch key for 5 seconds until the white light stays on.
This means the camera has entered update mode.
Step 3: Download the Firmware Update
Head to the official Insta360 website and search for “firmware” in the search bar.
Find your Insta360 Link model, download the latest firmware update.
And copy the file to the “INSTA360” drive that appears on your computer.
Step 4: Complete the Update
Repeat step 2 to restart the Insta360 Link.
During the update, the blue light will blink slowly.
Once it’s done, the camera will restart, and you should be all set with the latest firmware installed!
Get a Replacement
Tried all the troubleshooting tips and your Insta360 Link still isn’t being detected? It’s possible that the camera itself is defective.
It happens, though it’s not common.
If you suspect that’s the case, your next step is to reach out to Insta360’s customer service.
They’ll be able to help you diagnose the issue further.
And if you’re lucky and the camera is still under warranty, you could even get a replacement
